Introduction of each process

Regular courses at KAIST are offered as online courses (sit-in-on) for those who want professional and further learning, and short special programs based on the educational demands of the IT industry and recent research topics are also provided.

"Sit-in-on" regular courses

Program for those who do not want to acquire degree, but want to acquire graduate level knowledge, as well as the workers in the IT fields who want to acquire work-related knowledge

  • • Students: for those who wants to take professional lectures in the related fields
  • • Qualification: N/A
  • • Duration of the program: Open twice a year / March ~ June (16weeks), Sept. ~ Dec. (16weeks)
  • • Lecture hours: 3 hours a week (3 credits), twice a week and 1.5 hour each time / once a week for 3 hours for some classes
  • • Lecture methods: Provide on-demand lecture through video streaming (real-time is not provided)/ English-only lectures (refer to the language in lecture information)
  • • Lecture evaluation: No participatory learning activities such as quizzes and tests.
    (However, there may be evaluations for the company students upon the request of the companies' human resource management team)
  • • Course completion
    • - No credit is given because the program does not involve any learning activities other than sitting-in-on classes
    • - However, certificate and confirmation of attendance will be issued under the following circumstances:
    • - Individual student: a [confirmation of attendance] will be issued when evidence of the attendance is required.
    • - Company student: A certificate will be issued in association with the human resources team of each company
  • • Support service
    • - Provide Q&A with the professors
    • - Provide cyber TAs to facilitate learning
    • - Provide interactions with professors and TAs through boards and emails
  • • Tuition
    • - School of Engineering: \340,500 per class / School of Business Administration: \300,000 per class (* negotiable, separately negotiated for partner institutions)

Short courses

Provide short courses based on cutting edge technology and recent research topics by analyzing the educational demands of the IT industry and research institutes

  • • Qualification: No qualifications required
  • • Lecture hours: 10 hours or 20 hours

    • - Provide on-demand lectures through video streaming method
    • - On/offline lectures are offered simultaneously for the initially offered lectures

    • - No participatory activities such as quizzes, tests, , and others
    • - However, a company student may complete a course when the student has completed more than 70% of the lecture hours. (The completion requirements could be adjusted upon the request of the company)

    • - Distribute lecture materials for offline lectures
    • - Further learning through Q&A session with the professor
    • - Learning guidance and support from the KLMS manager
    • - Issue certificate of completion upon request

Special course

In order to accommodate the various educational demands of the students, regular courses at KAIST are modularized to provide programs that fulfill each of the learning objectives. Courses could be chosen by topics according to the expertise the student wants to develop.
